My Quilts
This is just one of my favorite quilts. It was a quilt I made for a challenge at our guild show. The challenge fabric is the flowered fabric used in the center of the stars and in the border. We were given a half yard for the challenge but my challenge is to start making SMALL quilts. :) The block was designed by Judy Martin and can be found in her book, The Block Book. It is also used on her EQ program, Judy Martin Stars and Sets, as a sample quilt for her block. (She is one of my favorite professional quilters.)
The pattern is called "Ohmigosh" and that is the first thing people way when they see the quilt. The double nine patch blocks are made of 1/2" pieces. You make those first and when you graduate to the churn dash style blocks, the 2" blocks seem huge! The quilt designer is Susan H. Garman and the pattern is distributed by Quakertown Quilts, Inc. I first saw this quilt/pattern at an IQS show in Rosemont, IL. It was done in darker, muddier colors and I thought it would be great to do it in 30's feedsack colors. Most of the fabrics are from Darlene Zimmerman's line of fabrics. I think it turned out. Just am adding some borders and it will be ready to quilt. Oh my gosh, quilting it!!!
